I want to use Windows Media Center after getting the Nero LiquidTV deal with the HDTV USB adapter and seeing how crappy the Tivo software is that came with it. My HTPC is currently running Windows XP Pro with SP2. I'm a real newb when it comes to HTPC stuff but does my version of WinXP come with WMC? If so, how do I install/access it?

Lastly, if it doesn't or if Windows 7 would be a better option, which version of Windows 7 should I get to use WMC? My HTPC has a 780G board using onboard video, 2 gigs of RAM and a dual core AMD 7750 (Phenom 2.8 ghz).

Thanks.

Windows XP Pro doesn't includes WMC, XP had a media center edition that was only sold as OEM.

Windows 7 any version from Home Premium to Ultimate includes Media Center. Moving up from Home Premium to Pro gets ability to join domains and remote desktop.

And windows XP mode. For whatever that may be worth, if you have some real old programs I guess it could be useful.

If you think you might ever need another copy of Win7, don't forget the Family Pack. Three Win7 Home Premium Upgrade licenses for about the price of a single Upgrade License alone.
