How To Get The Most From Your Ebay Auctions?

I know i asked this question before, But i forgot when was the best time to post stuff for sale on ebay.

All i really want is to get the most traffic to my items up for bid, and try to get the most bids for my stuff.

I know that i should make the auction end on sunday evening around 8pm Pacific time.

And ending it on Friday or Saturday night is bad because everyone is out having a good time.

Any other ebay selling tips?

This is what i want,
I want the auction to end when Ebay has the most traffic.

I know theres lots of Ebay sellers on this board, if you guys can come out with your tactics, and share a little on how to get the most from your ebay auctions, that would be awesome.

Thanks In Advance...

Rule of thumb:

[*]post it when you feel like it, don't worry about "when" people will be home
[*]include pics
[*]describe the item well
[*]make sure you have good feedback or ID verify

I would never run a 10 day auction. Not only do you get a nonrefundable fee for it, but a 10 day auction gets pushed back so far into the search list that most people wont see it until 2-3 days before it ends. And for those who do see it early on, the fact it closes so late makes them look for a competing item that closes more soon, or better yet, is available as a buy-now.

Well i do want the most from my auctions so i'll have to post it when everyone is at home and browsing ebay.

And i do have lots of pics for the items i am selling.

And like my past auctions i try to describe the items in detail etc...

And yes I do have some feedback on ebay, and maybe i should do that ID Verify thingy..

Thanks John for the reply.

I remember someone saying that the 3 day auctions are the best so it gives the buyer motive to watch it if they really want the item they go into a bidding war with other bidders.

So i guess, i'll edit my post to show that i really do not want a 10 day auction.

Appealing professional looking pages. Nobody likes run-on sentence that looks like big cluster of characters. Do a bit of decoration, but not excessively.

Pic is definitely a plus.

How would i go about on getting a more professional ebay auction page done? I remember before there was those free services where you can customize your ebay auction with backgrounds and bullets and all that good stuff. Now, they charge for it. And yes, Pics are always a plus esp. with ebay auctions.

Practice, practice practice and creativity. Maybe take homepage building classes.
Nobody really enjoy shoddy webpage.

Blah, that means i would have to take HTML courses just go post something on ebay. Blah!

Pictures are not necessary UNLESS the item is unique. I do very well on my auctions without the use of pictures...

Keep It Short and Simple: KISS

Please! no music!!!

Make it easy to read and legible

Small Pictures are good. Add more.
If possible, link it to enlargements.

Don't threaten the bidder.

What primarily are you guys selling? I've been thinking about selling some action figures and comics but not sure if it's worth it.

some things off my head would be a Rio VOlt sp90, a car cd deck, and a nokia 3310.

I dunno, i would check completed auctions before putting anything up. At least you have an idea what price you will be getting for your items. Maybe it might be worth it, but maybe it might not. Remember to factor in ebay fees, then decide from there if they are worth keeping or worth selling.

I try to keep it short and simple, but that sometimes leaves the bidder with lots of questions...

yea dont' even know how to do the music thing. I hate it when its 3am and your browsing ebay, and then the midi just starts playing, and frightens you to death.

Regular times new roman it is!

And thumbnails, hmm i have no idea how to do that. I usually just link all the pictures to the auction, and make it load all at one time.

and of course dont threaten the bidder at anytime..

Why is negative feedback bad? I know it could lead to buyers not wanting to buy from you if you have too many negative feedbacks. But can't you just sign up with E-bay again on a different credit card but the same address? Or do they limit you to 1 address?

Are you serious?

I've only done two auctions and I know my exposure and peoples willingness to buy from me has been affected because I don't have more postive feedbackand completed transactions. I myself when looking at auctions only bid on ones where the seller has a good rating. I'm more likely to buy from someone with 150 positive fedback than someone with 2

What do you all think of Paypal, There have been a couple of threads recently that have caused me to be a little nervous about using it. Not to mention the 3% cut they take for CC transactions, it starts to add up when you combine it with ebay fees.

it starts to add up when you combine it with ebay fees

You're gonna get 30% more selling it on Ebay anyhow, who cares about Fees?

Ending ebay auctions on Monday evenings at 9-9:30 pm is also pretty good. You get the east and west coast people after they are home from their jobs.

Thanks for the replies people. I think i'll put it up on friday 6pm hawaii time and make it a three day auction. So at least that way, the auction ends 9pm monday pacific time.

Any other ebay tips, all your ebay tips are awesome. Keep em comming.

THanks.

Maybe people are reluctant to buy since you are located in Hawaii and are afriad shipping will be too costly/get lost.

Thats why i always put insurance with the final shipping cost.

So shipping from hawaii is the same as from california, but most people think shipping from/to hawaii cost way more which it doesnt

keep your auction page as simple as you can with few small pics for the 56kers. bidders get discouraged if there are long load times
