I have to go with the big rwd v8 domestic crowd. If your going that route though look at lincolns. There just isn't anything much cooler than a big black lincoln towncar and most people that had those were older and took care of them. I see 86-89s all the time in my area going for 2k-3k.

I have owned a Mazda 88 Protege, and currently own a 90 Mazda 626. Both were good cars, with the 626 being the better one. Only habitual problem is the CVJoints tend to go out, but that is nothing special.

If you buy mid-90's Dodge be aware thatthey made their engines out of two different metals which causes the head gasket to get chewed up as the metal expand at different rates, leading to very expensive repairs. A friend's Stratus bit it at about 65k miles.

<< 198X-1990 Dodge CSX ??? >>

Ouch, good luck finding one in your area. I got very lucky myself and found a '89 CSX (1 of 500 made in 89). There weren't many CSXs made, 750 in 87, 1000 in 88, and 500 in 89... The Shadow may be your best bet. Find a turbo 5 speed if you can, try to find an ES (has power everything and nice extras). Good luck! :)

i found a CSX in the autotrader.

1987 Dodge Shelby CSX limited of 750. Its a little far away, only 2950$.

What's so special about them, can they be repaired easily/cheap? Does it come in Automatic?

They're rare, they're fast (especially for the money). Most parts are shared with a regular Dodge Shadow, so that shouldn't be a huge issue. Auto? Hah! ;) Sorry, this baby only comes in standard :)

If you're going to consider a turbo anything, call your insurance agent first. They can get $$$$$

Yup the csx will have practically all the same parts as a regular turbo dodge (read: available and cheap). Trust me, a stick is more fun too ;) Not to mention you also will own a collectable special car that was made by mr shelby :)

edit: the diferences are primarily trim but some extra go fast parts are there like a slightly tweaked computer and if i'm not mistaken an intercooler

hey mpg, if you really want a good resource to find used cars, go to recycler.com or autotrader. both of these are awesome sources for used cars in the So. CA area. there's also a newprint version that comes out every Thursday (unless they changed it). you can find them at any local convenience store, gas station, etc. I've found these to be the best way to find used cars, too bad it's only in So. CA tho.
