I've been trying to locate the drivers for the onboard (AC97?) sound with no luck. Can anyone tell me what files to install for sound? Or where the drivers are?

Should I just get a pci sound card?

I've tried that, in fact i've tried installing every sound driver on the driver cd...all it says during setup is "device object not found, try again after reboot" And I know for sure that the onboard sound is turned on in the bios. Anyone have a clue? I'm really lost here.

Did you try booting into safe mode and checking for ghost's....The only way to find them....If you find some make sure you delete all then reboot....Such as cd-rom listed three times....If you only delete two of them widows will still detect another one and you'll still have two....Are you overclocking at an odd speed?

Thanks Kenmitch. Your ghost thing worked. I deleted a ghost for my ata controller, and when I rebooted, the computer finally recognized my sound card. Now my computers working great with sound.
