YEESS they will think you are laughing at them and have a loss of self confidence, remembering all those bullies in high school that picked on them and scarred them for life, causing them to strike out to defend their emotional shortcomings.

 

i inspected their activities this afternoon

they're lingering around my bedroom window...there only seems to be 5 or 6 wasps
they're long, large...and slow

they land in and around the upper corner of my window
there's no visible nest, they may be building one under the siding or something

i know for a fact the wasps were not around a few days ago
the spot they're going to is about 15ft above the deck, and about 3 feet from the nearest window opening (only half the window opens)

would they be building a nest this late in the year? I'm in N Illinois, it'll be cold soon.

Whatever you do, it better be done carefully. Cause wasps don't run, they fight. I would try a spray and if it doesn't work call a professional. There could be a nest somewhere, you just don't see it.

If you're allergic, I wouldn't attempt the spray... while it's true they only live a few seconds after getting hit.. they can still fly for a bit...
Anyone watching me would have laughed their ass off as I ran down the street yelling aaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! with half a dozen pissed off wasps chasing me, and me attempting to point the can over my shoulder and hit them.

edit: I was dismantling an above ground pool... ran into about 10 or 12 wasps nests... stung half a dozen times that day, even while using the spray.

when i was a kid i conquered a beehive though
i put on about 6 pairs of pants, 6 sweaters, leather gloves, 3 face masks and two pairs of goggles
in 3 attempts - i got rid of the bees (using laundry detergent and water)
