How to get rid of viruses on Win98 PC?

Recently my sisters computer got a virus on it and I tried downloading AVG and then it infected AVG and wont let me install it so I was wondering what I need to get rid of the viruses I did something to my xp PC where I downloaded a file and then booted up in safe mode with networking and ran it and it fixed it and got rid of the viruses can I do that in win98 if so how?
 
Apps 1-7 in my guide (see sig) work in Win98. Download, install, and update each one, then reboot to safe mode to run them. The 8th one can be run in normal mode.

After you're done reboot to normal mode, then run a Panda Activescan
 
lol, depending on how fubared it is, I'd just reinstall. Assuming I have the proper backups, an image copy would literally take 2 minutes.
