I guess I get them b/c my skin is darker ( I'm Indian ). Got them on the inside of my biceps and getting them on my chest, where the muscle is expanding. Is there anything I can do to reduce this, other than to stop working out?

Sadly, they either go away with time if you are lucky, or you'll be stuck with them. They aren't something that you really can treat with conventional OTC products.

Everyone gets them when the skin is stretched too fast (gain fat or muscle quickly). A lot of time they're more noticable if you have darker skin. I know there are products that claim they can get rid of stretch marks, but I doubt they actually do.

you can't make the go away without durastic skin surgery, but you can help prevent them from accuring by using lotion that is specifically made for stretch mark prevention. Cocoa Butter usually works good, there are some lotions made for women who are pregnant that help prevent stretch marks.

I think for pregnant women they recommend baby oil for their stretch marks...just see what they say pregnant women should use.

I'm white as Michael Jackson and I still get them. Getting tanner though seemed to make their visibility go down..

It's blunt... but true. Stretch marks are scar tissue. No amount of lotion, water, or exercise will remove them.

I've never been pregnant, so I don't have any, but if you are young, don't smoke, and are well-hydrated, you have a better chance of them fading. Otherwise, it's genetics.

I've heard a lot about cocoa butter, baby oil and others stuff being sold. Unfortunatly, it won't do a goddamn thing.

i believe cocoa butter is to prevent the stretch marks while pregnant women are getting bigger. i'm not sure if they'll get rid of them.

You can use product like cocoa butter to PREVENT them but there is nothing that is going to make them go away. Believe me if there was you could make a mint selling it to fat chicks who have lost a lot of weight.....they can drop the pounds but their skin is usually ruined from stretch marks.

Uh, I have no freakin' idea how being Indian/dark-skinned relates to stretch marks. Whites too have a whole lot.

For getting rid of it, I don't think you can. You could try cocoa butter to reduce it though.
However, to stop stretch marks from occurring when you exercise, take Zinc. The reason you have stretch marks when you exercise is because your body is depleted of Zinc. This is a common problem for gymnasts. That's why their growth is stunted. And that's why people on Prednisone/Prednisolone have stretch marks too.

Zinc is amazing! It's hard to find food sufficient in Zinc, but always try with your diet first before resorting to supplements. If you do take it in the form of supplements, then try Zinc gluconate or Zinc picolinate for best absorption. In the event that you take it for a long period and exceeding 49 mg a day, make sure you have Magnesium and Calcium so your body isn't depleted of the two minerals; and of course Zinc's antagonist Copper for a balance.

Edit: Here's a link for you on a government website: Athletes and Zinc

Uh, yeah, it's not a myth. I have already provided one link. I'll provide even more links to research on government websites. I'll add the links when I get them. They're scientific researches.

Take steam iron, go over the stretch marks a few times or until they go away.
