Yo.

I have this popup that installs internet explorer onto my system and then shoots off several popups. The reason I say that it installs Iexplore is because I use Mozilla and never have Internet Explorer installed...

But sure enough, there it is...I'll try to uninstall it and then delete everything in the directory, but then I get another pop up again...

Any ideas?

I use winxp. It came with IE preinstalled but I uninstalled it...

Basically, it just pops up IE windows like 34f.com, download.abetterinternet.com, lottofor.dws0159.fast.net, ads.pro-market.net, or www.top-banners.com, or tries to install Virtual Bouncer"

I've blocked all of those websites now and turned the security level way up in IE (yes, I've tried uninstalling IE but it keep reinstalling itself) so I don't really get pop-ups that much anymore but I do get these annoying little pop-up alerts saying "This page cannot be viewed offline" or "Your web settings do not allow ActiveX so this page may not view correctly"

So basically, I'm looking at how to get to the *root* of the problem

tried scanning for spyware? use adaware and spybot search & destroy (both can be found on www.download.com)

the popups can't install ie because without ie they wouldnt open.

i'm not sure how you uninstalled ie but it really can't be done because ie so tightly intergrated into the shell.
