Still very funny.

Another thing that works really well is telling them you are interested and then quickly say "oh crap hold on," set the phone down and watch TV for a few minutes until you here the beeping of the phone off the hook. A jerk thing to do I know, but so is calling someone you don't know.

For all you telemarketers out there: I know it's your job and I'm sorry but some of us don't work 9-5 jobs and when you call me at 2pm it may be 2AM for me.

Its their job. Its not like they're choosing to harass you. I'm sure they hate their job more than you hate getting a 30 second phone call. Cut them a little slack and be nicer.

I don't really have a problem with sales calls anymore because I pretty much screen all my calls. If you do not register on my caller-ID I don't answer. If it's important I will listen to your message and call you back.

You've got to be fvcking shitting me. They're choosing to do it by taking the job. Don't like it? Find another job.

I got a landline phone for free with the digital cable deal I had from Cox. I gave the number to two people, and all I get on it are telemarketers, 1-2 per day. I decided to unplug the phone from the wall. With only using my cell since I started college in '02, I've never got a call that wasn't somehow related to something that I had signed up for. They must be getting desparate with so many ppl going to cell phones (where randomly dialing is prohibited) and the do not call list.

I just use my answer phone to screen. Not a big problem. I only pick up calls from numbers I know - otherwise it goes to answer phone and I'll call them back if it's important.

In a lot of places (including Central Florida) the job market is absolutely horrid and there aren't many jobs available, so it may very well be that they can't just quit their job and find another.

That being said I'm usually an asshole to them when they call. The way I see it, it is part of the job description... kind of like dealing with stupid users is part of a help desk tech's job description.

I use them as a tool for my 3 and 5 YO to learn how to talk on the phone. I answer the phone, ask the solicitor to hold, and hand the phone to the nearest kid and tell them they have a call.

Hell no. I had a lady call me last night for the make a wish foundation. I listened to her whole spiel because i couldnt get a word in edgewise. She told me about all these kids who dont even make it to their 18th birthday and everything..

She talks for a few minutes. I try to get a word in edgewise but it isnt happening. Then she asks me for my address. I say "take me off your list and do not call back here again."

Sure, she was really talkative before, now she just hangs up. What a total bitch.
