OK, this really is too funny.. Really, let me split this up:

...thanks for the warm fuzzies Ylen13 you pathetic self-involved, seflish waste of your communities space.

ok, now read this slowly..

...I hope nobody ever turns a helping hand to you and people like you...ever.

VERY compassionate, right?

And then, he reminds us that he's a patriotic and COMPASSIONATE soul....

That goes for the rest of you in this topic who think they don't have to follow the rules of the country, not too mention the basic rules of human compassion & sense of duty.

Some people have no respect for their own country/county/state. It is pathetic. How would you like it if you were charged with a crime, you were innocent and nobody wanted to serve on your jury? Then you end up with a bunch of ignorant smacktards on your jury who don't know what is going on and they put you in the slammer for doing nothing wrong? COME ON PEOPLE do you civic duty, go in when called, be honst, and if picked out of the pool to serve on a jury, do it as good as you can, someone's life & future could depend on it. It is also sort of fun and quite interesting to see the judicial system in action.

f civic duty. I have better thing to do then sever on jury duly. Also should a person that is making $100 an hour go and sit on jury duty and make minimum wage just because it?s his civil duty? No. As for how would I feel if I was charge with murder for ex and was innocent well that is my lawyer job to get me of the charges and if I get convicted then it will be his job to appeal on base of incompetent jury

First i doubt yoru makign a 100 bucks and hour..if you were you wouldnt be posting here..

Secondly i am a citizen and damn proud of it...i go to jury duty each and every time im called...if you dont want to be a responisble citizen and go serve and comply with ur civic obligations get the f*ck out of the country and dont look back..

This really depends on your area. For me have to go June 30th since I'll be in school, just called and they switched it. But they're supposed to call me on that date IF they need me, so no waiting around for hours on end in the happy fun place.

in california its one case or one day.

You call in on every day if they need you they tell u to come in the next day so basically you can go the whole week without getting called....if they need you you go in and if you make it through the day without getting assigned a case.. thats it ur out of jury duty..if you get a case assigned u only have to be on that case and thats it.

Hey,
Why do so many patriotic "civic duty" minded individuals resort to name calling?? Whatever, I will be serving jury duty and am sure that I will enjoy it - I'm just glad that it'll happen AFTER I'm done with this semester..

I didn't really call him names, I just used adjectives to describe him. And I'm not sure how one "patriotic minded individuals" has to do with the other "resort to name calling". Are they mutually exclusive? Anyway I'm glad to see people like you willing to serve. I see no problem with postponing it if you have school or are a teacher or tremendous hardship at the time.

u peeps confident in a jury of your peers anymore? i sure wouldn't be. lol🙂

That is because it is not a jury of your peers anymore. it is 12 of the stupidest people that could be found.

I wouldn't try to get out of jury duty, but I don't want to do it at all either. If it wasn't such a hassle and I didn't have to go into the shithole known as Detroit to do it I wouldn't mind so much.

theres certain things you have to do to be part of this country, and jury duty is one of those. and yes, that person who is making $100 an hour because a society out there allows him to make it should be happy to serve because if that society didn't exist he'd be living in a cave.

i got called a few weeks ago. Spent 2 hours in the waiting room. They called my name and had to report to the courthouse. Sat there and listened to the case. Filled out a survey and was told to come back in a few days. Totally sucked.

When i got back, i was one of hte 18 called into the Juror's seat. Got grilled by the DA and Defense about things i wrote. In the end, the defense team excused me. They prolly did it cause i told them for me to make a decision, i would need the defendant to take the stand. In california, it's his right not to.

I felt a bit of rejection. Would be sorta fun to be part of a homicide trial. oh well.

well when you go they ask you if you cant peform your jury duty. Just say what you said in your post and they will probably let you off. If not i guess you could not go again.

But then they arrest you🙂

'your fate is being decided by 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty"

i've been called for jury duty a couple of times. i ignored both of the notices, and nothing happened to me. this was a couple of years ago, in california. it was a mistake, and i regret it. looking back, i regret not serving like i was supposed to, and if i ever get called again i'll go.

i've never been called up for jury duty yet... but I heard it's a long process AKA UNNECESSARY WASTE OF TIME for ordinary citizens (e.g. getting asked stupid questions) that has other important things to do than freaking waste their time there. I'm not denying the fact that everyone should serve if they're called up but schedule ahead and get rid of this bullshit bureaucracy (sp?). They should reform the system.

Since you are woefully uninformed, please tell me who you would reform voir dire. Thanks. Voir dire is necessary to allow the state and defense an equitable and amenable jury.

So you saying a person that is making $100 an hour should take financial hardship as he will be only getting minimum wage when he could make $100 an hour just so he can satisfy his civic duty??

YES, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HE IS SAYING.

Way to punctuate! You are the most articulate college student I have ever encountered.

I really don't understand how most of my peers made it in here (looks around dorm at the gaggle of buffons surrounding him).

No, I'm not bitter...not bitter at all 😛

It's great to see that people care about their communities and their peers instead of the almighty dollar. I was beginning to think that people didn't care about their duties anymore, thanks for the warm fuzzies Ylen13 you pathetic self-involved, seflish waste of your communities space. Well said.

I got out of jury duty (2nd phase out) by laughing when the judge read the accusation.

I couldn't help it, it was this little Arabian man - the report said that he purposely drove up in this old ladies yard and ran over her cat with his car.

LOL

Just tell them you're a student. If you're a student, you don't have to serve. I had to inform them of this a few years back and they let me off no problem.
