How to get my HOA to change a rule?

Where I live we have people who keep parking their car on the street overnight, and I want them to stop. It attracts criminals the neighborhood, and it is lowers the value of the area.

The HOA already has a rule that all cars must be parked in the garage and driveway first. My problem is with people who own excessive number of cars. One family near me has 6 cars for a 1 story house with a 2 car garage. They park 2 cars on the street each night. Annoys me to no end.

I want the HOA to change the rule, so you can't park a car on the street overnight. There can be can be an exception for overnight guest if it only for a few nights. For people who already own to many cars, they should be made to get rid of them. What do you think is the best way to go about doing this?

I think I've told you this before, but this one is just too obvious. You have to be a little more sly when trolling forums, the people here aren't gullible like the ones at the bodybuilding forums.

You can park overnight on the street? We get ticketed up here.

Everyone does it over here, but I live in a neighborhood with nice wide streets and plenty of room, not a doll-house neighborhood.

I know some people who live in neighborhoods where the streets are insanely small and there is no way anyone can park there without blocking the street. If they park there, they should be ticketed.

In your example of the family with 6 cars, if each parent has a car, and each kid has a car, and the kids ages range from college age to high school, I fail to see how each one owning a car is "too many cars."

Heck who cares if it was just 3 people who each owned 2 cars?

Stop trying to control other people's lives because you don't like them. Troll.

If you have 6 people in a house with 4 bedrooms, then you have too many people living in a house, and their should be a rule against that too.

Says who? Parents share a room, and maybe 2 of the kids do.

But lets say this was a 5-person family. Parents share one room, and one room for each kid. Perfect size house. 5 cars. 2 in the driveway/garage. 3 in the street.

I can't tell if this is a parody, or if people really are this big of douchebags.

Are you for real?

And this is why I would never, ever live in an HOA.

If I do try to get this rule, it needs to be anonymous. I can't have my neighbors think I am a douchebag.

Find a forum where a big chunk of the poster's are anti-hoa and proceed to bitch. Eventually you'll get shamed into deleted your post. Problem solved
