Ok Here is my configuation at the moment.

I have window98 computer as a server computer having sygate as NAT.
I have Mandrake 7.2 and i can't get it to access the lan.

How do i fix this problem? Is it that sygate is not compatiable with Mandrake?
Any solutions out there?

Also Mandrake 7.2 have a internet sharing capability. So if i turn Mandrake to the server computer and my windows computer clients..
Can my windows access to internet as Mandraking being server?

Thanks A;;

Is your Mandrake install able to ping the Window's box?

Is the interface up? 'ifconfig -a' will show you the settings and status of the ethernet card.

Yes, Mandrake can be a gateway.

Looks like you've got some basic debugging to do and that there's no quick answers here. Go and check out some of the Linux HOW-TO's, etc.

This was my exact same problem a week ago before I hosed Linux (RH, Mandrake and Best versions - tried all). Now using Win2000 ADV Serv Ed and it works great. BTW I was referred to www.linixnewbie.org - Yeah right.

the gateway shouldn't care what OSes are installed on the lan machines. most likely it's just a config problem. do you have other machines on the network that have a net connection using your gateway? the linux box can be the gateway, but i had trouble getting it to work. might consider upgrading the gateway to 2k, win2k has internet sharing built in - it's solid and simple to set up.
