How to get into IT recruiting?

I've been a proffesional programmer for about 4 years now, in that time ive made a lot of contacts, with different companies, managers, and countless IT proffesionals. I was laid off for about 4 months and now have a steady job again, but I still have tons of job leads that I obviously cant fill, but I was wondering how hard it would be to become a recruiter on the side, and fill those other jobs with people I find.

Anyone have any expirience with this how profitable is it, what is all the work involved? any thoughts if your in the business or know someone in it and can give some more detail. Any links?
