How do I get IE to recognize the last size of a window?

Whenever I open a second window it will only open in some wierd size that a popup window used. Under folder options there is and has always been a check mark for remember each folder's view position and I have tried closing the window by every possible method that I can think of. I have tried the X, under file, the upper left corner IE icon, alt + F4, right clicking and close, and trying pressing Ctrl + the aforementioned methods and Alt + the aforementioned methods.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

open a ie window and expand it full screen and then open another window and do the same , then shutdown the first window and you should be ok .

That still isn't expanding the window full screen for right click and open in new window or shift + left click. It did do it for Ctrl + N though.

what about trying to open the new window, resize it to the maximum, hold onto ctrl while clicking the X to close the window? seemed to have worked for me.

Thanks for your help erub.

I am using IE 5.01 so it doesn't just affect 5.5. Also, the window that originally caused this was Microsoft's Windows Media Player page. I was viewing a video at their site and the window that pops up when you start to view the clip, the one that advertises the site offering it, set it smaller and now I can't undo it.

Thanks again for your time.

the way i do it is:

i open up a new window, and then resize it myself, to almost as big as a maximized page. Then, i close the window. After that, it opens any other window back to that near-full size window.

I still cannot get mine to open a maximized screen though.....

Okay this is the dumbest thing ever. By combining Gazza's and jkdude's advice I have come up with this. It is somehow related to the order that you do it.

You have to do each method of opening a window individually and all at once. So I clicked a link that would open a window automatically and then stretched it, then shift + left click and resize, then right click + open in new window and resize, then Ctrl + N and resize. I then closed the windows in order of opening them. They then open to the stretched maximum but not maximized.

If anyone knows the registry keys for those methods,

1. shift + left click
2. Ctrl + N
3. right click + Open in new window

I think that the one that overrides all others is the right click + Open in a new window since that is the one that is causing all sorts of trouble with me. Depending on the order that I set the windows that one will override the others, I think.

I just know that I will be tearing everything apart trying to come up with a solution.

Okay now after getting the above done like I said I then repeated opening each window using each method. I then maximized the intial window and then closed that one only. Now every time I use the Ctrl + N method that will open in Maximized. So far the others are unaffected.

So, just a theory, I think that Ctrl + N is connected to clicking a link that opens a new window automatically. I also think that the one that overrides all others is right click + open in a new window.

I hope someone is getting a good laugh at all this. :D
