how to get health insurance for a week (between semesters)?

A friend of mine is going abroad to study for the summer, and there is a week between when our uni health insurance expires and the new health insurance year begins. The program he's attending asks him to show that he has coverage the whole time there.

Do any of you know how to get health insurance for such a period?

I don't know if this is EXACTLY what you are looking for, but through our Insurance Agent, I was able to setup temporary health care through FORTIS. It was six months at a time. And we could pay it six months at a time, or month to month. So MAYBE he can just get it for a month. (This was after I graduated, and my dad's policy didn't apply to me anymore.)
