How to get HDD off PIO and into DMA mode

i have 2 hdd on my asus a7m266 mb. the primary master is on ultra dma (ibm 75gxp) but the second is on pio mode (its a maxtor capable of ATA 66) how do i change both to ultra dma ?

Go to device manager and click on the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller. Then select properties for the primary IDE Channel and under the "Advanced Settings" tab, select "DMA if available". Do this for both channels. Reboot and check in the same "Advanced Settings" field for the "Current Transfer Mode". Should be changed to DMA or ultra DMA.

Also make sure, that you're using the right ATA 66/ATA 100 cables.

thats what i tried but it doesn't work. i even tried changing it to pio mode then to dma but it doesn't work.

I used this utility from the IWill website to change the transfer mode (it will also tell you your current mode - DMA, UDMA66, UDMA100, PIO)
