How to: Get free stuff from Intel

Intel is a great resource for any software developer. They have software guides, programming guides, optimisation manuals, and technical specifications for all their CPUs.

All of this is available for download from their site, but you can also request a hard copy of most of their literature, sent straight to your home address via. FedEx.

To do this, go to Intel's site (for example: Software Development Manuals) and pick a piece of literature. Click "Order a printed copy" and it'll direct you to instructions on how to order a printed copy. All you have to do is send them an email, giving your address and the SKU# of the literature.

Intel will ship to anywhere in the world by FedEx, completely free of charge. I live in Australia, and Intel shipped to me 6 tomes containing all kinds of great information, free of charge, within a couple of weeks. Try it for yourself!
 
I know some microcontroller places send you free dev manuals too. I got two or three from Freescale Semiconductor for a 680HC12. So if you want to learn a MCU and know a certain one check the main website and see if you can get lucky.
 
wow! a great collection of valuable resources. i just prefer the downloadable pdf files. it is pretty much convenient and instant than ordering a printed copy 🙂
