I remember when I was in LA, it was cheaper to fly into the airport at Long Beach rather than the LA International near Inglewood, but I spose it depends where you're coming from & what deal you can get.
My preference is always to fly in and out of Burbank rather than LAX. It's closer to home and easier to deal with. I can always do that if I'm just flying to Sacramento, Las Vegas, etc. Anytime I fly to the east coast I always have to go through LAX.
Long Beach is very limited...I think only 5 airlines fly into there. Along with Long Beach, there's also Ontario, Burbank, and John Wayne in Orange County.
Try lowestfare.com too, I got a good deal last month there, my girlfriend is still in fort lauderdale for about 10 more months and I'm near the philadelphia airport, so I plan on buying quite a few more tickets before the time is up.
