How to get a file over the net securely?

I want to send my gf media files but she's paranoid about the RIAA or her college network people finding out.. Is there a simple way to send her mp3s/zip files but encrypted so that the network gurus can't see that I'm sending her anything suspicious?

EDIT: I should add that I plan on using my webserver space to host the file and then will delete it after she gets it

You can encrypt rar files with a password. I don't know if you can encrypt the actual data.

Winner! Just zip them up and put a password on it. They won't be compressed any further, but you can still password protect them.

I've thought about that but .rar passwords can easily be cracked...

SSH/SCP/SFTP

P.S. The RIAA only snoops on p2p networks, and the campus people really don't care what you do. It would be illegal for the RIAA to sniff out all of your traffic.

Hmmm.. Do 70mb PDF files exists? If they do I can just compress everything to a pw protected RAR file and then just change the filename into something "Academic."

The RIAA isn't gonna spend their time cracking you .rar password to see if it has their files on it. There's a billion other people out there that's easier to catch.

Use SSH, Waste, FTP with SSL, or some other encrypted transfer protocal. You can also encrypt the file with PGP if you are that worried about it. But really you don't even need the encryption if you are just transfering from you to her under a private account and not publicly hosting it.

Googling "VCN" right now ;)

But, while I figure that out- how does the .rar renamed to .pdf sound? She's always download PDF files so I figure that'll be pretty safe...

It's a wonder you figured out the difference between Caps Lock and Shift.

Oh wait - you didn't. Oops.

Just put it on a website and have her use FTP or HTTP to bring it down. Name like "yourdoc.doc" or something innocuous.

Make new .RAR called "linux-custom-distro.rar" or something to the like
Create random 1024-bit hex hash
Apply as password to encrypt all added date
Send away
