I think its terrible that you even think of an idea such as taking legal action. He owns it. Whether you have a company called Haut from 1800, its his. He did not register it to hurt your name or anything, and he bought it for legitimate reasons.

Go to www.nissan.com and look -- It is terrible what nissan motor co is doing. You think nissan motor co should get the domain just cause they are bigger and have more money?? Absolutely not. If nissan motor co wanted it so bad, they should have gotten it. It is his last name, and has nothing related with cars. It was for nissan computers. The owner purchased it for legitmate reasons before nissan motor co, and he should keep it. Same for your situation.

jesus, calm down - i was just asking.

not like i'm going on a farking guerilla raid of the guy's hosting company and making them give it to me.

the ONLY reason i'm asking this at all is because the site has yet to have a single freaking page of information on it. i would be happy to give him a subdomain (or as many as he wants) to NOT use, but i WOULD use the main site.

relax, okay.....

The other thing you have to think about is that even though he's not using the domain name for a web page, he might be using it for e-mail, which is more important to some people than a web page.

that's why I want it....first and foremost for the email address. everything else after is just a bonus.

It may not have a main page, but he could easily be using it for email.

this thread should stop right here, this guy is BROKE! even if the guy will transfer the domain to him for say $5, he has no money to go thur with the deal. here is a parody for him:

I have the same problem with a website for my wife's company. Some idiot in CA has registered the .com version of my wife's company name for the past many years and has never used it. It still just points to the "Coming Soon" page. SO my wife got the .net version and has been using that.

The guy's company's name is sort of similar but it's not the same so I have no idea why he registered it and even so why he has never used it. The guy doesn't seem to be the brightest around though. I offered to buy it from him and he's like I spent lots of money branding that name. Of course since he has never activated the site, it's obviously real useful to him.

Either you start a business with that name or pay him a lot of money. If he's doing nothing with it, offer him like $100... i'm sure he'll consider it.

Sheesh, I wish I even had a chance at getting my last name as a domain...of course, it happens to be "sun", and guess who owns sun.com?

What if he just uses it for private email?
