How to get a 'beat up look' with out getting 'really hurt'?

You guys asking for the full story are just falling into his attention whoring trap. He says something absurd and incomplete and you guys ask. Then he says something along the lines of "I don't want to say" or "It's too personal". You ask again and the process continues for a while. Now he has you on your knees begging to know and then he finally tells you a dissapointing and poorly made up story.

Make your hair a bit oily, and rub it around. Put allergens into your eyes, or just rub it a lot so it turns red and sore. Eat tons of salt so your lips become dry, cracked, and blistered.
