How to fry a mobo, cpu, vid card, hard drive, etc?

I swear i`ve done this and it posted, how? who knows.................



Hers a couple of ideas.........

Fill the pci slots with ram
stick things in the floppy....( i used a screwdriver to get a disk out once, machine was still on 2)
open a cd rom and BOOOT the living hell out of the tray. ( destroyed a nice 5x sony dvd-rom like this, i`m now using a slot loader lol)
somehow connect the psu to the fan header of the vid card..hehehehe
fill the bastard with ice and watch the smoke as it melts
make a caseless rig on the kitchen bench and wait for the inevitable...*whoops*
get really really pissed and try to make your tnt2 run at 8x
flash the bios with something stupidly inapropriate
fill pci slots with slot 1 cpu`s ( the ones that resemble snes carts)

You could try removing random chips from the motherboard and see what still works...

The car battery idea sounds fun...

Get a capacitor out of a disposable camera, charge it up, and start zapping things on the motherboard =) Might even be more fun to do it with the computer ON during that =)

Put some Cheese like american spread it all over the motherboard, fire it up let it melt a little, then put a couple of mice in there to eat it and see what they can do.

You could try putting in or removing a PCI card while the computer is powered on. Doing that with an AGP card with the double layer of contacts might be interesting.

Similarly unplug and plug the power connector for the HD while the power is on.

And plug/unplug the PSU from the mobo with the power on.

Kick the case while the HD is active, like defragging.

take a magnet while using the hard drive and place it on top of it. jam two cds into the cd rom drive. (i did that before its amazing the noises you get)

here is what I was talking about: 2 thing.

1: spudcannon.

2: use 12 volts across your proc. It would be fast for the several milliseconds it remained in existance. maybe. or not. but 12 is alot.

vandeGraff is fun. In AP physics, my teacher had the whole class link hands, and the first person put a hand on mr. vandegraff generator. After we were all charged, without warning, he grounded the ball. So the last person in line had all the charge that had built up in his body flow through him in an instant. Ouch. The guy next to him had all that charge plus his own go through him. Ouch. and so on, till the guy touching the ball had more than twenty peoples worth of charge rush through his body. I was about halfway in the line, and I wound up on the floor . . . . the poor first guy was quivering for the rest of class. It was awesome.

Unplugging power cables from the mobo or from the Hard Drive is really nothing special either.

I mean if you think about it, its exactly the same as if you had a power cut isnt it?

Im not too sure about unplugging JUST the mobo power cable, that might be dangerous to the mobo.

Yea my teacher did the typical hold the flourescent tube in one hand and touch the bowl with the other.

I was the only one that stood charging myself up for 5 mins before being told to touch the radiator.

I dont know why no-one else would do it after me, maybe because of the pain i was in for the following 5 mins afterwards

Video Card : Install a 5800 Ultra and run a 3D screensaver for 20 minutes.Bye Bye

Hard Drive : No worries, install an old IBM deskstar and just wait.

CPU : Remove the heat sink, slap a few pieces of bacon (lowest grade you can find) on the CPU and reinstall the heatsink. Then overvolt the hell out of it. At least it will smell good when it dies.

Optical Drive : pour hot wax into the drive
