How to format a disk AND make it have system files?

you mean like format a hard disk or a floppy? to format a floppy in windows, you have to go to start, settings, taskbar and go to boot disk. that will format your disk and place your system files in it.

GregMal, damn! I am stupid, I actually knew that...heheeh.....

But I usually just to into windows (in windows 98), and when I format a disk I choose "copy system files to disk".....

Now I am using Win ME, so it doesn't have this option....

Its a monday 🙂

you can also just right click on the 3 1/2 icon in my computer and select 'copy system files only' then select format (if you just want a shortcut to format a floppy).

assuming C is your hdd, then boot with a start up floppy & at the A: prompt, type "format C:/S " without the quotes! 🙂

edit: seems I'm a little too slow with my typing.

You can download a utility called Power Desk 4 by Ontrack, it lets you format, copy, zip, unzip, view, extract and anything else you want to do in windows.
Totally user friendly and highly recommended.
It's free now, I had to pay for mine though Go here to get it.
