?How To? For Crimp Pin Installation?

I am going to make an attempt at making my own usb connections using .1? female crimp pins and 5 pin molex connectors. Is anyone here familiar with this procedure?

The two biggest questions I have are:
1) Can I use solid wire with these pins or do I use braided wire?
2) How far down do I place the wire in the crimp pin? If I place the wire too far in the pin then I risk the wire interfering with the male connecting pins on the mobo.

Any information would be great. I would also appreciate any links to some sites that may have a how to procedure on it.

Thanks,

Pokey

Sorry, but why can't you just buy a USB hub? You can probably find one on CompGeeks.com for $15-$20 max.

I am working on a fix for the usb connections on my Lian Li case. And I would prefer to just use the ports at the front of the case and not use a separate hub.

For those of you not familiar with this case, the usb wires have individual pin connectors for each wire and not the standard 10-pin molex for the connection to the mobo. In addition the usb wires are too short. If I want to slide out the mobo tray I would have to disconnect the wires from the mobo.

My plan is to buy some extra wire so I can lengthen the wire bundle so I no longer have to pull the wires out of the mobo every time I want to slide the tray out. I just figured I could swap the connection heads while I was at it.
