My Miata used to have this lovely exhaust.

I did some amazing sculptures with muffler cement as a teen.

I used to use "Muff-o-mend", great stuff, good for about 6 months..
I've done similar "muff-o-mend" type of repairs, think more like 5 months, not 5 years. The issue is, you didn't supply anything for the patch to secure to, you could have placed a mesh there, (and held on by a clamp) to give it foundation, as is it's prone to the vibration of the engine eventually shaking it loose.Hi,
Just wanted to document my repair (as i read lots of guys on amazon/ forums saying that this type of repairs last a short time). Had 2 holes in the exhaust pipe (just before the muffler) of my old (2003) car. There is one more hole on top at same place (not visible on photo; its size being slightly smaller). Was supposed to use a small piece of aluminium can piece (or a tin can piece) to cover the hole and then apply cement over it – in my haste and excitement (LOL) to do the repair (as a neighbor, who was arriving soon from abroad, wanted to use the car), I forgot about it.
Used Visibella cement from aliexpress. Car is not used much and was not used at all (not even started) during a period of 6 days (car has been used lightly after 9 days; it was started for 5 minutes on 7th day). First cleaned the pipe with a steel wire brush and Steel kitchen utensil cleaning roll.
For 5 consecutive days, a layer of this cement was applied by finger after wetting the pipe/cement with water. 1st day – as the holes were quite big, it took some 3-4 tries to cover the hole/s. Ambient temperature – above 30-35 deg. C during the day.
Here are photos from Day 0, Day 1(24 hrs), Day 5(120 hrs), Day 15 (neighbour is using the car).
I am hoping it lasts for 5 years 🙂 (what do you guys think?)

LOL, yea, back in the '70's, (specially in northern climes), exhaust systems took a beating and they were not stainless steel so products like that were popular, I had so much on one car it looked like I had King Tut slung to the axle..Muff o Mend , sounds like a QVC beauty product .
