How to fix sagging headliner in car...

The heavy rain just made it worse and its actually touching my head now which is so damn annoying... i wanna rip it off but i don't want the foam underneath to be exposed... how much will it usually cost to get it fixed by an upholstery place? I don't have the time to disassemble the things holding it and get a repair kit... Hope it's not more than $150... 🙁

My sentra has it. Around the edges I used straight up ole skoo glue, but around the front where it's coming I just let it hang. Real pain in the ass isn't it?

I had a van with the same problem. They wanted 300 bucks to redo the top. I told them to go fsck themselves. I bought a can of spray adhesive, cut a small slit in the fabric at one end, then sprayed the adhesive on the ceiling of the car. Then i took a piece of wood and used it to smooth out the fabric. The job looked crappy but it only cost me abour 5 bucks and a half hour of my time. It lasted another year or so until i got rid of the van.

It looks like two bulging humps separated by the dome light... 🙁 I hate it... :|

😀 I would too... but its so damn huge and spread out it would still sag in other places... 🙁

I had the same problem with my '85 GMC Jimmy in high school. Just take it to an upholstery place and they'll fix it, stretch it out, and what not. I had this done 10 years ago and the price was reasonable...not sure what it is now.

i fixed mine with a bunch of thumbtacks. i've seen safety pins used, and they were a little better because they didn't ever fall out.

you could pull the entire headliner down in one piece (if you can) and carefully glue it back up so that it's easy for you to glue the entire thing.. instead of just pinning it.

Yeppers. Mine only falls down on the left side though. The car is so small that it doesn't fall down far enough to touch my head unless my hair is sticking right up.

If i don't find a place that gives a reasonable price for it... i might have to do just that one of these weekends... 🙁

~$50-100 if my memory is correct. I found a cheap place in S. Texas to fix it.

Great... two bulging humps with spots on them... :Q 😀 🙁

I did mine in my beretta. It didnt take more then an hour, I just took all the plastic pieces off the corners then dropped down the entire headliner, cardboard piece and all. Mine was supervelcroed to the top, i think that is how most of the manufacturers attach that top piece, I tore off the old fabric, used a strong metal brush to scrape off all the old adhesive and then used some GM spray trim adhesive I got from my work to attach a new piece of fabric that i got from work (GM dealer) as well. It was really cheep, went quick and now looks like brand new. G/L!

WHat he ^ said.

If you don't have the parts hookup like he does, go to Eastwood and search for "headliner", they offer complete repair kits for $29.99 w/free shipping.
Doesn't look like it comes with the spray adhesive, you can get a can of 3M @ WalMart for ~$5.00. REMEMBER to use a wire brush to remove the old adhesive and foam crumbs that will be left on the headliner shell.
