Hi all,

We have W2K AD environment with XP or W2K workstations. I was wondering what is the fastest way to find out which workstation a user is logged on? i.e I want to find out where John Doe is logged on right now. How do I go about tracking it? Any help is appreciated.

I too would like to know this. I think I casually looked in to it once, and came to the conclusion it isn't possible. It would be nice though. I troubleshoot a lot of remote sites, some 30-60 minutes away and some users it takes 10-20 minutes just to walk them through how to find out the computer name (and we have a policy that changes "My Computer" to "My Computer is %computername%" so it is RIGHT THERE).

dont think thats possible

but if you have symantec anti virus, the network edition, fantastic program btw, then you can see a list of computers and users logged in in its management software

Hi all,

I was told you can do this by editing the policy and look into the security event logs. I'm just not sure if I wanted to go that route.

I remember I came across this sometime ago and was able to see what workstations each users were logged in at that time. I don't remember how I got there or using what util software...but I'm pretty certain it can be done.

We do it here using a rather lengthy VB script. Would be kind of complicated to explain all that it did though.

Yeah, big thanks. I'll check it out on Monday too. This is more useful than SP2.
