Hi,

is there any way to find out the default clock of a cpu without opening the case and removing the heatsink? A friend of mine bought a Athlon 1330MHz System with a pretty huge heatsink but it's 61.4°C while it's only running mIrc or IE browsing the web. I fear that it might be overclocked.

Yes you're right that's what wcpuid does but this is a different program the URL messed me up... www.cpuid.com. This program is actually called Cpu-Z and it will show the original CPU/FSB. Sorry for the confusion :)

i just tried the cpu-z hoping it would work like stated, but it still was inaccurate

the cpu in this system right now is a duron 700 but i have it clocked at 136 x 6.5
cpu-z shows it 884.1mhz by way of 136mhz and 6.5 multiplier

but when i look at the bottom it says "original cpu/fsb" and its wrong it shows it as a 650 its still reading the overclocked multiplier of 6.5 its just showing it on a 100mhz bus, but it should show it as 700mhz

curious i checked on the pc next to me, same thing. it shows the correct default fsb it it shows the overclocked multiplier
