How to find an indoor cat who escaped outside?

I just found out from my wife that our cat Ninja some how got outside without her knowing.​

Well, if it's a Ninja of course he would get out without you knowing. If it was actually SEEN going outside it would not be a Ninja.


Good luck finding the cat. Post some signs. As mentioned above somebody else may have started feeding it and taken it in - and the cat has deemed them worthy as new owners. Cats do that.

Can of tuna or anchovies or something that's pretty smelly outside by the door, leave the door cracked open, put some lunch meat inside the door.

Our 4 month old kitten ran outside when it was 15 degrees F out.
We were really worried, but it was at the back door the next morning, warm as could be.

They know where their food is.

I bet it will come back.
