how to find a wall stud??

is there an easy way to find a stud behind my wall? i'm trying to hang my guitar and i want to make sure it wont fall

measure from the corner of your wall, there should be a stud every 16 inches...tap it with your knuckle before you nail it off though to test it

a studfinder is your best bet. Go to you local hardware store. I am srue they dont cost much, under $10 I would be willing to bet.

Studfinders are relatively cheap at your local hardware store, but the tapping is worth a try if you are cheap. ;)

I actually have my guitar hung using four 3M command adhesive strips on the back of the hook. Can't drill holes in a dorm wall. :(

oh yeah i forgot about those things, i use them to hang pictures and stuff. they're pretty damn strong.

i tried knocking but i couldnt tell, is there any correlation between an outlet in the wall and where the stud would be?

Alternatively, just start pounding nails in. Rinse and repeat until you hit a stud :p

if you aren't sure a studfinder is a good pickup for 10-15 bucks...

Alternatively, just start pounding nails in. Rinse and repeat until you hit a stud :p

already have one bigass hole in the wall :( dont want another. guess ill have to wait to pick up a studfinder
