Obviously, the best defense is not to get into a fight with a dog, spray it with pepper spray, yell "NO", don't run, etc.
But realistically, what would be the best way to fight off a dog if it starts sprinting towards you?
I'm thinking to offer up your non-dominant arm and then as soon as it bites, you punch it in the snout or jab its eyes with your fingers. Better my arm to get mangled a bit than my groin or throat.
(I keep hearing stories to jam your hand down its throat or grab its front 2 front legs and pull apart to collapse the ribcage, but these aren't realistic at all. Maybe someone with training or lots of practice could do this, but not someone for the first time.)
