Dont mean to sound blunt but cant you just download it from Asrock's site?
http://www.asrock.com/support/download.us.asp?cat=BIOS
Failing that then some Mobo manufacturers supply a tool for backing up your bios within windows.
If that fails then there are a plethora of tools that will work from DOS such as bupdater etc.

Like i said, i tried downloading from online and it didnt work, theyre all .exe's that run from within windows of DOS. I tried extracting them but it didnt work, i guess ill try to see if i can backup the BIOS.

My bad,
I didnt realsie that these BIOSes were wrapped up in an exe.
I dont have an ASrock board and am using an ASUS board.
It looks like they have some form of windows flashing tool on the site.
Will this tool allow you to make a backup of your BIOS first before upgrading it?
Otherwise you will have to use some DOS tools as already mentioned.
Mac.

Looks like the inst-flash download is a bin file so should be good.

it is in the form of a .30, i tried simply renaming the extension to .rom to no avail. Should i try to name it to .bin?

EDIT - MMtool only accepts .roms, what are some good DOS tools i could use to extract it. Also, since im using UEFI is that different than a standard BIOS?

Excellent work sir, it opened perfectly. Though im not sure what to do from here :p. I know im a noob but i would like to see if i can get hyperthreading enabled on my 2500K, so if anyone wants to partner up with me on this endevour thatd be great.

I don't want to rain on your parade smoblikat but if you couldn't even work out how to view the bios without other peoples help what exactly makes you think you are going to be able to enable a function that an intel engineer has disabled on a CPU?

Still best of luck.

2500k's don't have hyperthreading. How could you enable it if it doesn't exhist?

@puppies I am merely attempting to try my hardest, moer than that i cannot guarentee.

EDIT - New concept, you know how on some AMD boards you can unlock cores...............what if the board manufacturers put in a feature to unlock HTT?

EDIT - EDIT
So my basic understanding (i mean BASIC) is that this sorta stuff is inside the microcode in the programmable area inside of my CPU. So we would need to find the address of HTT, set its flag from 0 to 1. To do that we would need to create a new option inside of the BIOS to switch those flags. If we could view the entire microcode of the CPU this wouldnt be as hard as it sounds (though still very difficult) because i could compare my code to the code of someones I7 2600K to find the differences then start my search from there. The only problem i can see with this is that i might have to sign it with intels signature or ASrocks, but im not sure because it might just be controlled by BIOS and not actually modified permanently on the CPU. I need some serious help, anyone want to tell me where im wrong with my assumptions?
