Hello all,

want to copy from plain DVD (MPEG 2) to HDD to be able play DVD from HDD with DD or DTS audio.
To minimize HDD space I want encode it to MPEG 4 (h.264)

How to do it?
What tools to use?

I know how to get DVD "image" by decrypter or shrink, but don't know how to encode it to mpeg4 with keeping AUDIO in DD or DTS.

I'd like to take adv. of x1900gt hw to play mpeg4 (h.264) from HDD.

Thanks.
Mike

what do you want to know how to do? decrypt a DVD? encode it later? try using DVD shrink and then burning it with nero although i don't understand your question.

If you are using DVD decrypter to get the source image off of your "original" and it includes DTS audio , which is what I use...
I then use "1 click" Dvd copying software. It's awesome , and allows you to keep DTS if the image file was made with DTS.

I tried staxrip - cool tool
but, so far was not able to convert DVD to MP4
I'd like to get 1/3 size with good video and audio 5.1

would you help me with those questions:
1. what encoder to use? HQ-insaine, slow or slower?
2. what contanier? MP4?
3. what audio? external "as is" DD or DTS doesn't work with MP4 container. ACC / HS?
4. can I use x1900 h.264 built in encoder to speed up encoding? and how?

I'm not looking to make it portable and play on iPod or etc. - I'll play it on PC only.

Thanks.

Don't use the AVIVO video converter if that's what you're talking about...it gives bad quality from what I've tried.
