How to Enable Mic Input on Front of Case

Posting this for a friend..
He has a new computer with a mic jack and USB ports located under a cover on the front of the computer.
The mic, when connected to the sound card (on the back of the computer), works fine.
When he connects the mic to the jack on the front of the computer it does not seem to work.

First thing would be to check if the jack on the front is connected to anything. Sometimes cases have all these built in features that have nothing to connect to. Second, look to see if there is a mic2 in your sound card settings and if it is muted.
