Using a aiw 9600 pro here, and I can't either. It's a huge pain in the butt with windows xp...have to download unofficial files just to get ff7 to play. at least for me.

They blew it with that game.

No support for the Riva 128 or TNT chipsets. It was a joke.

btw, can i add a voodoo II to my radeon 9100? , my 12mb voodoo II is sitting in my cupboard catching dust.

that way i can get hardware... but then again i recall that there were no xp drivers for the voodoo II that supported direct3D .....

Software for me too, the Eidos site has a 404 link to a patch that sounded promising. Their products often lack polish.

you can use the riva tnt patch to get hardware acceleration...but the game will go pretty slow in many scenes.

just stick with software :(

EDIT:

Run this game with win98/me compatability AND use the riva tnt patch to get functioning d3d!!! So far everything seems *ok*

EDIT 2:

Game just froze on me for the first time.

lol it froze on me yesterday, and i was just about to get back to sector 7 from the train graveyard, back to save point for me ^^

this issue is in the ati database and their solution is.... to choose software acc!

its bearable, but i can almost guarantee that hardware acc will look better.

wait a minute, i have a matrox card that is supported, wooohooo!!!!

Using my method, the game freezes on me when i alt+tab out and then get back in and change scenes...eg: fight.

mmm...the game looks so much nicer when using hardware acceleration.

You could just get a PSX emulator if you know someone who owns the PSone version of the game. ePSXe works awesome with FF7.

You can get the PSOne FF7 for about $15 on eBay (in fact you can get a PSOne for $15 too :) ).

If you have box & docs you might get enough for FF7 PC to buy the PSOne version? I recall checking PC FF7 prices on eBay or Amazon and them being pretty high.

<-- just started playing my first Final Fantasy (IX) on my new used PSOne from eBay :)
