I want to know if it is possible to e-mail my IP address automaticaly with out me being at the computer.
For example, can program my computer to use my web browser to open www.whatismyip.com and copy that into an e-mail and send it out?
What program can use to do this, if there is such program?
I'm using windows xp, and I use remote desktop connection everyday, but my IP changes on my DSL line once in a while and I can't check unless I'm home.

Let me know, thanks.

PS: I know there are websites that let you do this if you have a domain name, but I'm trying not to buy a domain name and not to use these website services, cause it cost money.

Just VNC to your computer and do it yourself.

If he doesn't know his IP address how can he use VNC?

How come his IP address changes so frequently?

Because his IP address is probally assigned dynamicaly.

My ISP changes my IP address anywhere from 4 - 6 times daily. I can get a static IP address, but its MUCH MUCH more per month.

try using blat, a command line email program. then use tasks cheduler to run it, and feed it the output of ipconfig. or use sendmail and ifconfig and cron. simple and effective!

www.no-ip.com is a great free service.
You can get a sub-domain on any of their free domains like mycomputer.redirectme.net that points to your ip (i.e. DNS forward) .
they have a program that you can install a program on your computer that updates there servers with your current ip. So no need to bother with emails! and you can type in a nice clean address -- one of their subdomains or buy your own domain.
