how to download more than 2 files with internet explorer?

i know there are 2 line you have to add to the registry in order to d/l more than 2 files at once with ie. i did some search on the net, but no one.

if any of you know a system that has it, please post the link.

I'll take a stab at this one. I think it is fixed in IE 5.5. Can you upgrade to it? I used version 5.5, along with Win2k, and no longer have this problem. Another idea is to use GetRight.....good luck.

Not sure but I think that it is controlled by the web site and not your computer. Some sites I can have 20 files going at the same time...others only 2.

i am using ie 5.5 sp1.

it's control by you, unless the web site restrict the number of d/l per session.

I would suggest trying GetRight. It works with IE and Netscape. You can set the maximum number of download at a time. Great for resuming/restarting downloads, too.

or you can bookmark the page. than open new window and it will let your download another two files.

is there such a restriction within ie? i have never had a problem with downloading more than 2 files at one time. or is this only a problem with 5.5? i am using 5.01

This is definetly a restriction within IE and I'm not sure upgrading to 5.5 is enough. chrisbest01, you're right in saying that there are 2 registry entires..

First, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings and there set the following 2 keys:

MaxConnectionsPerServer REG_DWORD (Default 2)
Sets the number of simultaneous requests to a single HTTP 1.1 Server

MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server REG_DWORD (Default 4)
Sets the number of simultaneous requests to a single HTTP 1.0 Server

As I read that, however, the restriction applies to a single http server. In other words, if you're at several different websites and starting concurrent downloads, it shouldn't be an issue. Correct?

Yes. Y ou could do two cnets, two download.coms, two fileplanet, etc all at the same time.

Most of the time though, if you're downloading 2 files from a place, you can't even transfer web pages, so that's the main reason I bypass the limit.
