Straight to the garbage? I thought not ... isn't there mercury in the tube?

Any ideas / suggestions?

Places that properly dispose of old monitors usually charge a fee, probably $20. But taking it straight to the dump will release some really toxic crap into the soil.

See if there is some computer disposal center in your city.

Hrm ... see, and I would have donated it, but it's very blurry ... no good for the eyes ... but if someone picks it up, I guess it's their prob? They might curb it again though :\

Put a sign on it that says "$20" and you know someone will take it for you.
Haha -

My old company used to try to get rid of some of their outdated manuals/documentation like this.
They put a big sign that said "FREE" over a stack of books and they were all still there a week later.
They changed the sign to something like "DO NOT TOUCH THESE MANUALS", and the stuff was gone in 2 days!

funny story about disposal of monitors at my dads workplace. the IT department wanted to dispose of about 50 monitors, so they went to the enviromental department. the enviromental department thought it was a great idea to contact the propor disposal company as to not harm the enviroment. so the IT department contacted the disposal company as to how to get rid of the monitors and to protect the enviroment. well, they had a enviro safe disposal, but it would cost them a good deal of money per monitor. so the IT department said to the enviormental department, hey, if you wanna dispose of the things like you suggested, then it is going to have to come out of YOUR budjet. the enviromental then looked at the cost and said to hell with it and they dumped them in the dumpster. american enviromental protection at its finest

Uh-oh, I threw out a monitor not too long ago. Didn't know about the mercury and lead.
