someone on craigslist was giving away a pentium3 laptop.

i dont need it but that got me thinking on how to de-germ it?
 
You don't. You rely on your superior immune system which has been hardened over the years by not disinfecting everything like a sissy. You do have a superior immune system, don't you?
 
We had a laptop that was misused & abused, a few weeks ago. I probably would have worn latex gloves handling damn thing if we had any.
They spilled pop in it. Looked like they used the keyboard & stuff as a plate for food. We replaced the keyboard. It was covered in food crumbs & animal hair. Was all covered in mud or something, maybe it was shit. You don't know what these loons are up to these days.

Opening it up or turning it on stank up the whole room.
I took some alcohol & sanitizer to it before I did anything else with it.
 
steal their identity from the information on the hard drive. Open up a credit card under their name and pay someone to disinfect it for you.
 
I purchased a used laptop from someone on a tech forum about 5 years ago and it arrived with freshly hatched cockroaches inside.

It was nuked from orbit.
