How to disable touchpad on Laptop?

I'm not sure what kind of touchpad i have. My laptop is a HP ze1110

No such options in my Bios, infact, my bios has 2 options ONLY! Boot-up sequence and date & time.


So i wish to know how to disable through windows. thnks.

I had to uninstall those drivers and put up with the touchpads problems while typing because an external mouse can not use its scroll wheel with the Synaptics drive installed (Those scroll arrows below the touchpad are useless to me! Why do I have to sacrifice my wheel for it?)
 
HPs have an awesome way to do it: A third button above the pad that disables it. Damn shame their laptops are so ugly compared to the new Toshiba 5000 series w/ Touchpads 🙂
 
suggest you disable it in device manager then but you'll have to have the usb mouse installed first!
if you had gotten a ps/2 mouse you wouldn't have this problem. 😱

Touchpads don't show up in the Device Manager. They are just another PS2 device. Because only one device is seen when both are connected, only one's features are accessible.
It sounds like his problem really is a driver problem though, so he should try removing the touchpad driver... That fixed my issues, but I CAN'T disbable it now 🙁
 
in my device manager, it shows 2 mouse(PS/2 & USB) no touchpad device found.

I can use both touchpad and usb mouse simultaneously with no problems.

How do i find the drivers for my touchpad?
 
"Add Remove Programs" is where I found the Synaptics uninstaller 🙂
Because it is a customization for the mouse control panel applet, you really can't remove it through the device manager (Unless it redecting the PS/2 port replaces it with the default applet)

I wish it was this simple! 🙁 I dun see any synaptics in my Add Remove Programs! If someone knows where in the registry the file is, i can delete them.

as device manager shows 2 mice, the synaptics touchpad should be the ps/2 one so have you tried disabling it?
only do so if your usb mouse is working correctly!

You probably don't have a Synaptic touchpad, so look for ANYTHING that seems related to it. Like if your laptop was made by Toshiba look for "Toshiba Mouse Utilities" or something along those lines... This will disable any special features of the touchpad and therefore any non-standard interactions with your USB mouse so you will still have the abioity to use both.
 
i found i have ALPS pointing device. I found the drivers and readme but i donot find any program installed so i cannot uninstall, and i tried to install but nothing happens! Whats up! 🙁

Maybe it is using drivers from WinXP.....
 
If that's the case, then it is not what is causing the problem with the USB mouse because Touchpads operate as standard PS2 devices with NO drivers if WindowsXP detects it...
