I've google'd this to death and can't find an anwer.

I use msn.com as my home page. Frequently, I'll be reading something and pop a new window up to search for something. I use Firefox and have the Google search bar.

So I fire up a new window, click in the Google bar and start typing, but then I notice I maybe got two letters typed in the Google bar and the cursor jumped to the MSN search bar.

I start checking it out, and I noticed that anytime I fire up a new browser window, or if I just hit "home" and go to msn.com, the cursor always ends up in the search bar for MSN.

Anyone know a way to stop this? (other than getting a new home page)

Google search bar still works, but I have to let the page completely load, then click in the Google bar to use it.

I don't use tabs. What I'm seeing happens even when I fire up Firefox for the first time, straight from my desktop.

I guess it's just what msn.com is doing as a part of opening that page now.

this usually happens to me when i open a new window, and i want to type in an address really quick, but as soon as my homepage (Google) comes up, the cursor jumps into the search box. I really dont think there is anything you can do except to use tabs.

using tabs really helps, it took me a long time to get used to, but once it did, it made life so much easier.

That's exactly what happens to me. I'll start typing either a web address or maybe something in my Google search box, and in the middle of that it jumps to the MSN search bar.
Pisses me off.

Maybe I need a new home page, but I really like MSN.

well, just think about how annoying it would be to have to click inside that box every time you want to do a search. maybe if you only search through the searchbar though.... i dont know.

Why don't you just change the option, when using search have it open a new window for you instead of opening the window yourself.
