How to disable onboard sound

How do I disable the onboard sound from the Asus K8N-E Deluxe? I want to install the Audigy 2 Platinum on this MB but I don't see the on board sound in the BIOS set up to disable it.

Assuming it's not in the BIOS, there might be a jumper that might need to be changed to disable it. Otherwise, it'll be in the BIOS under something similar to onboard, peripherals, etc.

If you don't want it active and can't find where to disbale it in the bios or via jumper than just go in the device mangler and disable it. BTW it may be listed as AC97 in the bios but I haven't used that board and I'm too lazy to read the .pdf manual 😛

I can't think of anywhere else it would be...you obviously tried disabling it from the device manager without luck (you can't disable it I'm pretty sure).

What did he say that made it obvious he tried disabling it from the DM? BTW, that is nonsense that you can't disable it there 😉

I did look in the Device Manager but I was not sure what to disable since I saw a bunch of entries of "Legacy Audio" and something like codec.

I found a screenshot with the setting in it TextIt is the Audio CODEC interface setting, just set it to disable.

The link crashes my IE, so I can't see it but from device manager, I can't disable my sound...I have to do it through bios. My Soundblaster sound controller is the only thing that you can disable, the others just don't have disable buttons.

One more question, and this is to satisfy my curiosity. In the Bios the auio codect shows three options; AUTO, ENABLE and DISABLE. What does AUTO actually does? Auto is de default setting. I jus disabled it to avoid any conflict.
