How to disable Geforce Experience?

Ok, I got my 780 a few months ago after 5+ years with AMD, and this Geforce Experience thing is making me paranoid. Can I completely disable it? I do not want it to touch my game settings at all. I need complete control over my games without the driver making decisions for me. How can I be 100% sure that it doesn't change anything?

By not pressing Optimize Settings...

It doesn't do anything unless you tell it to.

The easiest way would be to download the newest Nvidia drivers and GO SLOW when installing. First select custom install and then select each driver you want with a check box on the left. Make sure Gforce is uninstalled (I also uncheck 3D drivers since my monitor is not 3d.) Also besure to check the perform clean install which is below the regular drivers. This will eliminate the Gforce experience and let you select your own settings.

Just don't go through and click "apply settings". It has a option to not even scan for games. Its worth having going just for updates and also shadowplay.

You're not forced to use it. You can disable it at startup with msconfig in win7 (or whatever method you prefer) or you can just simply not use it, or better yet do not install it the next time you install an nvidia driver (custom install).

I use it for shadowplay but I don't ever use the optimize settings at all....it's there if I need it but I just ignore it.

A clean install shouldn't even be necessary. The last time I checked it can be uninstalled separately.

You're right. Been so long since I even installed it that I forgot you can uninstall it via control panel.

At least it can be seperately un-installed. AMD's equivalent cannot.

You can just straight uninstall it from control panel without removing the driver and everything else.

Originally respected GeForce Experience for gamers that don't like to tweak or beginners but for tweakers it wasn't too important.


However, nVidia is changing that by adding features like Shadowplay, streaming, LED visualizer, more customizing options and abilities. Didn't take it too seriously and more of an after thought and now look forward to see if there are any new goodies!

Best thing to do is use the Display Driver Uninstaller program from Guru3D, boot into safe mode..unistall the driver...reboot...then select custom install and deselect the stuff you don't want. You can check clean install if you want, but it isn't necessary.

DDU COMPLETELY removes the driver...Everything. When you reinstall the driver it is like installing the driver into a freshly installed OS.

The improvements they've made with GFE are nice, but the latest version was causing crashes in BF4 for me...so I have it unistalled for the timed being.
