I'm trying to figure out who made my motherboard (someone else built my comp.). The tower has a clear panel so I can see the MB but I can't find any ID marks. Is there anyway to find the info. on the MB itself or is there somewhere on the comp. I can bring up the info. I have windows xp. TIA.

Try the System Information tool.

If not, I know for a fact that if you install 3dmark05 (free version), it will tell you what motherboard you have (There'll be a button like "My Specs") AND your benchmarking results ;).

Thanks for the help. I checked the tools and it said:

System Manufacturer: VIA Technologies, Inc.
System Model: KT600-8237

Is this correct? I am trying to setup the Motherboard Monitor and I need this info. to configure it. I tried to download the program you listed but since I am on dial up it would have taken forever (est. time was 24hrs!!!!). Thanks for the help.

Well, thanks for the help. I finally found it, thanks God for the clear side panel. I got a flashlight and started looking on the board (as I have done many times today). I found a website that lists a bunch of different ways to find the manf. of the board. This site showed me exactly where to look (w/ pics.) Thanks again.

the info from 3D mark....the "model" appears to be the chipset..via does manufacture both motherboards and chipsets so it should be accurate

I was way off. I first thought it was VIA but later realized that was just the chipset I looking at, like you said ShadowBlade (never said I knew much about these things )). The board ended up being an ABIT. I found the info. between the PCI slots . So I entered in the board on the MBM5 and finally got correct readings on my temp (compared it w/ BIOS when booting up). Before I was setting off alarms (CPU temps. of -60F to 230F) with the MB manf. I entered into the config. wiz. Now I have to learn all the different stuff assosiated w/ the MBM5, like the fan speed and stuff.

CPU-Z will identify motherboards as well. Along with a host of other useful (or useless if you don't plan to overclock) information.
