Hi,
One time I downloaded a .zip file and after extracting it, I ran the .exe file. The moment I did so, a warning message popped up from my Norton Antivirus 2002 with the details of the name of the virus and the location of it on my system. I got scared, of course, and looked for it manually. But it was no longer there so I figured Norton took take of it automatically.
Although nothing catastrophic occurred, I was wondering if there are any programs out there to detect for trojans, viruses, or keyloggers from downloaded programs. I've heard some people mention that one could "scan" for them but I don't know with what they're scanning. Am I restricted to whatever antivirus program I have to scan for these nasty little things or are there specialized programs??
I know there are sites like spychecker etc but some programs i download aren't popular programs so they may not be on their lists of known trojans or keyloggers.
Also, is there a program that will let me know exactly what changes were made (what files were changed, what files were added and to where) after I install a certain program??
Thanks in advance!
