All this talk about delidding Ivy Bridge makes me wanna do it to my Sandy 😱

My google skills are not coming up with anything.

Anyone got any helpful links? 😎

I've only found that it uses "solder" attach, does that mean it's impossible? 🙁

Sandy bridge is Soldered to the IHS. If you delid it you will rip the cores off as well. Only Ivy can be Delidded

Needs to be heated up as said, and then delidded.

Usually the best way is to turn the chip upside down. Razers in between. Then heat it up slowly till the IHS falls off.

You don't delid sandy bridge, unless you want to make an expensive paperweight... and a rather poor one at that.

Dude, don't do that. You are going to tear that thing up and ultimately make a costly mistake. Besides, people who have Ivy-Bridge want a soldered on heat-spreader. What you are also doing is mocking and teasing the Ivy crowd, ha 😀

I googled for a good 3 hours yesterday, nothing conclusive. :\

I don't see why ivy crowd would be teased, since they could delid so easily, and it's an-OPTION.

Sandy owners don't have a choice, it's oppression I tells ya' :'(
