How to create a slipstreamed WinXP CD with drivers, updates? [impossible?]

I know how to slipstream SP1 into WinXP and make it a bootable CD but I would also like to add all the other Updates, DirectX9, WMP9, and especially some drivers to this SUPER-slipstreamed version.
How do I do that?

I have all the drivers that I want on there and I have DirectX network setup. Where do I get the small windows updates?
and how do I slipstream all of this into the CD?

Thats an interesting one....

Have you thought about extracting driver.cab (or wherever the drivers are kept) and adding/replacing your drivers in there (the one from C:\Windows\SystemBlahBlah\MyDrivers). I should think the same would work for DX9, just zip them back up and burn the cd.

Well, I figured that since it is possible to do an integrated install of SP1 into the CD files, it might be possible to install DX9, WMP9, all the post-SP1 patches/updates, and etc. into the CD files.
But it seems now that this is not possible ....

The only way to do that (I would think) would be to extract the files to the relevenat places (such as the ones that the installer goes to for files) and burn the revised veriosn to cd. sorry.

There is a way to do this, I remember seeing a thread somewhere about it, I'm sorry but I don't have anything more than that on this, but I know it is possible. The tool might be available on Microsoft's site, have a search there.

Sorry I can't be more help! I'd like to do this myself too...

This was a thread here a few months back - and there was a web site linked. I did it - followed the recipe and created a bootable, slipstreamed XP Pro that includes SP1.

qchain only links downloaded hotfixes together for one sweep installation. it doesn't integrate it into a WinXP Setup CD.

(and I know how to slipstream SP1. I'm talking about slipstreaming all the hotfixes after it.)

IIRC qchain is only part of the equation. You need to setup the qchain script, put it in on the CD and there's a way (unattend.txt?) to launch the script at the end of the installation. It doesn't actually integrate into it the way some of you are thinking, but the end result is the same. We do it for our server builds at work to save time and ensure a common environment. I'll dig around and see where you actually call it from.

This is actually very easy. Our IT department uses a single CD which contains not only XP Pro self-installing script with SP1, but also some diagnostic utilities built right into the CD. You just have to have experience making bootable CD images and are good with SIF scripts... I'm not in a position to say how though.

OK, this is sort of along the same lines, so instead of creating a different thread, I posted in here (coolVariable, if this is not cool, let me know and I'll start a seperate thread):

I'm doing some internal testing at work with our software on Windows XP Pro, using the oh so common Corporate edition.

I've got SP1a slipstreamed into it just fine, but what the heck is one supposed to use for the license?

The handy-dandy keygen utility seems to have disappeared, and the FCKGW or whatever string doesn't work anymore.

What good is slipstreaming SP1/SP1a if you can't get past the registration.

Thanks in advance!

I heard some rumors that the keygen is still out there on kazaa and (for sure) on edonkey ....
But of course you can only use that when you do own a license of WinXP.

All of the fetures you are after are avaliable in the OS installer as metioned it reuires sif editing and special dir names like [OEM] and [$OEM$] you can make an install have anyprograms you wish installed esp if they are MSI heres a few links i grabbed out of goolge quickly

http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/showflat.php?Board=software&Number=5090

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/server/help/sag_RIS_RISW_Overview.htm

have alook for more ya self do a search in oem installs or [$oem] sif all the 2000 stuff applies to xp so all the 2000 guides will work for you the installer is exactly the same.

hope this helps.

coolVariable- Thanks for the heads up on where to look.

It's not like I'm using Windows XP for use, I'm just using it for internal testing, i.e. lots of hardware swaps (including motherboard). Calling M$ everytime I need to register is not an option, therefore the need for a Corp. copy.

Thanks!
