I have an CP1600+@1.41mhz in an InWin midtower case. I'm thinking this might be the culpret, but I dunno. This is in a A7v266-e board with 256MB DDR. I have an Antec Jetcool heatsink with thermal paste mounted on the CPU. I currently have 3 HD's,DVD, 12x10x32, 12x8x32 burners in the case also. I have 2 front intake fans mounted side by side, and one exhaust fan out the back. PSU fan, and 2 HD coolers. I cut the side out, but have a window instead. I also have a light mounted on the inside. I thought I would be smart and get a bigger Heatsink, but I ordered a Directron DC1206BM HS rated for a 2100+ processor, when I installed it windows 98/XP wouldn' t boot, but I could get to the BIOS and check the temp, which was no better than the Antec HS. So I reinstalled the Jetcool, booted no problems. I dunno what the deal with that was? Anyone?

BTW I run about 50C idle temps, and 60-65C at full loads. I know XP's are rated for up to 90C, I just wanna have some head room to overclock this badboy.

Is the fan mounted to blow in or pull air out? Somtimes they work better as evacuation fans, with heated air pulled out of the heatsink, instead of the air being pushed in -mechanical compression heats the air. If you are adding heat into the equation the 52 degree air blowing in will not cool as well as 50 degree air pulling out.
Flip the fan case and see if that helps. Suck or blow, your choice.

Asus mobos tend to read higher then normal anyways....so as long as you don't have stability issues arise don't worry about it....

As for case cooling you really should make one of those intake fans another exhaust fan....maybe add some blow holes at top of case...You want negative pressure...Too much intake will compress air and compressed air is warmer as the molecules collide and generate heat...You want to pull heat rapidly away from case so cpu hsf has cooler air to try to take the heat off of the heatsink fins...

I'll turn around the fans intaking air in the front, and see what happens, I'll post and let you guys know, I have heard about Asus and registering higher temps, so maybe that's part of the problem too, thanx for the suggestions, we'll see what's happens. :)

Also anyone had any problems with the Directron HS? I dunno why Windblows wouldn't let me boot with it, and the Antec boots just fine, that makes no sense to me.....

I turned the fans around in the front as suggested.....whhooo that was not good, playing mohaa, I had temps of about 70-75C. I turned the fans back as intake, and took the side off the case, and viola! The temps dropped to 50-55C. I know think I need a side fan, or a blow hole in the front. That's the next step to my case mod.
Thanks for the replies.
