rice is a bedding, meant to sop up the juice of good food..

Here is a desert rice dishes that the rice is the main item and not to "sop up the juice of good food".
This is Sticky Rice with Pandan. A vietnamese dish.

Sealed Rubbermaid(or equivalent brand) container should help.

It's a multifaceted problem. A lot of food ships with the eggs already in it, so if you don't use it promptly, you get a hatching. I tend to horde food. The way I buy, when there's a deal on something, I get a bunch of it. I like to keep grains in the freezer/fridge, but don't always have room, so it goes in the cabinet. Forget about it for awhile, and then you have moths everywhere :^S

I'm feeling good about this winter. I'll get all my grain stuff used up, and hopefully track down all the caterpillars, and kill them. Those things get everywhere, even outside of the pantry. They can be a real hassle.

Funny(not really) related story...

The moth caterpillars look like very slender maggots. Interestingly, almost exactly like a kernel of long grain rice. I REALLY wanted rice one night, and had about a half cup left. As I was pouring it out, I noticed the tell tale webbing of moth larvae. I didn't feel like going out for rice, so I poured what I had out on a piece of paper, and separated it by hand, pulling all the caterpillars out. Talk about a tedious job. It took me ~1/2 hour to clean the rice :^/

As I was pouring it out, I noticed the tell tale webbing of moth larvae. I didn't feel like going out for rice, so I poured what I had out on a piece of paper, and separated it by hand, pulling all the caterpillars out. Talk about a tedious job. It took me ~1/2 hour to clean the rice :^/

ok..nevermind on buying a rice cooker or rice..again. D:
 
BTW- rice sticks together because of the starch. If you rinse it when it's done cooking you will get the individual grains. Some people like the starchiness though so they don't do this.

A rice cooker makes the rice absorb the water without boiling, so you don't get starch bleeding out.

(3) Fill till water is about 1in above rice ("knuckle method")
(4) Cook
(5) Eat

Actually you should rice the rice a few times first.

D: you probably ate a few too. Not that it would matter, lots of protein.

OP, if you cook rice a lot, invest in a rice cooker. I think Newegg sell them for about $30 or less.

Just rinse, then fill it up with water (1 knot of your finger) and then hit the cook button. Done.

BTW, get the aroma Thai rice or India rice (I got the India rice from Sam's club), don't get the cheap rice from grocery stores.
