How to cook fish with lemon juice only

I've had fish that was cooked by being soaked in lemon juice only years ago while in Key West and would like to find a recipe for this and if it has a certain name for cooking it like that.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I recently saw a show that mentioned this method of cooking and it made me want to give it a shot but whenever I do a google search all I come up with is recipes that use lemon, not how to cook it with lemon.

EDIT:

OMFG I almost threw up when I ate it, it was so mushy and over powering with lemon even after rinsing off a few pieces before trying it.

My fiancee looked like she really was going to throw it up if she ate anymore and spit it out!

We just ended up throwing that crap away and eating some tuna :p

Maybe one day down the road I'll try it again with a different kind of fish (I used tilapia) or something but as it was, it was nasty, was like eating raw mushy, over powered lemon tasting fish.

I even like sushi so it's not like I've never eaten raw fish before, but this stuff just wasn't right.

Oh well :(

I have made salmon in the oven with lemons only before. Just put it in some alum. foil, squeeze about 3 lemons over the fish and then cut up some lemons and put over the fish.

I think it's called a Ceviche. ;)

Can use it on any meat, although normally associated with seafood.

It's easy, you don't need a recipe. Just take any white fish, I like halibut, and put that in a container (cut it into cubes) covered with lemon and lime juice (enough to completely cover the fish and everything else). Of course you really want to add things like onions, peppers, spices, tomatos, etc. Whatever you want really. Just let it sit in the frig over night and enjoy.

Thanks! I'm going to give it a try.

I had one bite of it. It was just as bad as I thought. Raw fish is better - at least raw fish doesn't look nasty and grey like ceviche. But then again, I hate raw fish, cooked fish, or any kind of fish.

Awesome recipe!

I really appreciate it!
Yep, I've eatten Google too. It tastes fantastic. The best part of Google is how it avoids all social communication and avoids that nasty part of having the best recipes recommended. I mean, Google wonderfully lists all recipes because we all want to see the bad ones come up on top. Without Google, we'd be stuck with good recipes only. And no one wants that.

No, it isn't cooked at all. It undergoes a chemical transformation that make it look cooked. In the end it's essentially pickled, but it's still raw. If there are any parasites or bacteria in the fish they don't get killed off. If you're doing your seafood ceviche style make sure that it's from a good source.

Well I prepared it last night and it's been sitting in the lemon & lime juice along with some seasonings all night.

I checked it this morning and it looks "cooked", I'm going to give it a little taste test and see how it came back.

If I don't die, I'll report back the results. :p
